Yesterday, I became aware of comments made on Facebook by a per diem public safety dispatcher. The comments made were insensitive and disgusting. The incident in Columbus, Ohio ended with the death of a 16 year old girl which in itself is tragic, no matter the underlying circumstances. Comments like those made by Mr. McGregor are hurtful and serve no purpose other than to cause additional distress and inflame emotions. His comments do not represent the values of the town or the police department.

Today, Mr. McGregor submitted his resignation to the Chief of Police. We have an expectation that all town employees are respectful of their community, held to a high standard and understand that this type of commentary, no matter the platform, has no place within this changing world.
