Press Release: Former Dock n Dine Property

May 31, 2019

Press Release from Old Saybrook First Selectman Carl P. Fortuna, Jr.

Recently, the Town conducted an on-site meeting with the owner of the former Dock n Dine property, Jon Kadama, to express the town’s dismay with the condition of the property as well as the safety hazards that exist at the site. Present at the meeting were Jon Kadama, owner; First Selectman Carl Fortuna; Zoning Enforcement Officer Chris Costa; Chief of Police Michael A. Spera; Building Official Tom Mackowicki and Town Counsel Michael Cronin.

The message was clear: the town needs the owner to make certain this site is safe and that measures are taken on the site so that it is not used as a dumping ground. This location is one of the finest on the shoreline, and perhaps in all of the State of Connecticut. We will insist that proper measures are taken soon as it concerns safety and aesthetics. Obviously, all involved would like to see this site used to its full potential and we are hopeful that will happen soon. In the meantime, we will closely monitor temporary improvements to make certain that local regulations and ordinances are complied with.
