Press Release- UPDATE- Regarding Delivery of the Shoreline Times

June 7, 2019

Updated Press Release from Old Saybrook First Selectman Carl P. Fortuna, Jr.

Regarding Delivery of the Shoreline Times

Since my press release the other day, I have been in touch with the President and Publisher of Hearst Connecticut Media Group, publisher of the Shoreline Times, Michael DeLuca, and his Head of Circulation, Paul Barbetta. They listened to my concerns and understood my reasons for elevating the conversation with regard to newspaper delivery. They both are relatively new (six months or so) to their positions and were disappointed that delivery complaints were not internally directed to them before it reached this point. Long story short: They promise that if contacted by a resident who does not want delivery, they will stop delivery. They have asked me to personally give residents their emails and phone numbers in order to make certain resident complaints are addressed.

I have heard comments from a few people that the town and its residents must certainly have something better on which to spend our time and that this issue is minor. I disagree. Unwanted newspapers get left where delivered or where the wind and water takes them. Quality of life issues are in the eye of the beholder. I received enough calls from residents over the years that strong action was necessary by my office. Those affected are appreciative. If you DO NOT want the Shoreline Times delivered to your home, please email or call:
