Press Release: The Kate and The Chamber

Chamber Dome

April 30, 2019

Press Release from Old Saybrook First Selectman Carl P. Fortuna, Jr.

There are two construction projects in town that our residents may notice. The first is the repair and replacement of the chamber cupola, roof and gutter system. Unfortunately, just a few short years into the life of this building which was constructed in 2007, the roof failed and started leaking and the cupola also started to leak. This is a town owned building that is rented to the Old Saybrook Chamber of Commerce. Macri Roofing is performing the work and the end product will be one that our Town will be proud of for years to come. The cupola will have LED lights shining on the dome with the ability to change colors for holidays or celebrations. We look forward to this project’s completion by the end of May.

The Katherine Hepburn Cultural Arts Center is undergoing a pedestal and pillar fix. These original foundational items were not repaired in the original 2008 bonding to transform this former town hall back to its theatre greatness. In the last five years, the town has upgraded the electrical and heating and cooling systems, and made minor roof repairs. This pedestal and pillar project should be complete in the next 60 days or so and will incorporate new lighting for the front of the building to show off this beautiful Main Street structure.

Thank you for your patience while we continue to upgrade our infrastructure.
