Over the spring and summer, America was confronted once again by the ugly truth that systemic racism persists throughout our society. The effects of systemic racism have consequences in housing, education, health, wealth, and nearly every other part of daily life – in fact, race is still the number one predictor of success and well-being in our country. As a member of the Connecticut Conference of Municipalities, we are participating in a series of online discussions called CCM CARES – Getting Comfortable With The Uncomfortable.

The CARES stands for Communities Advancing Racial Equity Series, as we must get comfortable having these uncomfortable discussions if we want our communities to take advantage of this crucial moment. You, the community, are the critical part of this equation, and we want you to be there for one of four 90-minute panel discussion with community and municipal leaders covering the Western, South Central, North Central and Eastern areas of Connecticut. They will be taking place on October 20, 22, 26, & 28 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., respectively.

Visit www.ccmcares.com for all the information on the panels, the panelists, and how you can participate. These forums will be the first of many long-term discussions on this pressing matter.

We hope you can participate in one of these important and timely discussions. +

Thank you.
