Special Town Meeting

CALL OF SPECIAL TOWN MEETING

Notice is hereby given that a Special Town Meeting of the electors and citizens qualified to vote in Town Meetings of the Town of Old Saybrook will be held at the Old Saybrook Town Hall, 302 Main Street, First Floor Conference Room, Old Saybrook, Connecticut, on Tuesday, October 1, 2019 at 6:00 p.m. for the following purposes:

1.  To recommend to town meeting, based upon the recommendation of the Board of Selectmen and the Board of Finance, an appropriation of $30,025.00 from the capital non-recurring account for repairs to the town hall lower roof structure. Further, said funds will be moved to an off budget account that will be entitled “Town Hall Roof Repairs.”

2.  To recommend to town meeting, based upon the recommendation of the Board of Selectmen and the Board of Finance, the movement of $72,083.64 from the Police Department fiscal year 2019 general fund budget and place those funds into the town’s capital non-recurring fund.

3.  To recommend to town meeting, based upon the recommendation of the Board of Selectmen and the Board of Finance, the movement of $249 thousand from the town’s surplus funds for FY2019 and to place those funds in the “Debt Service Stabilization Fund”.

4.  To amend Chapter 192, “Taxation and Assessments”, of the Town Code to add an eighth article entitled “Ambulance-type Motor Vehicle Exemption”. A copy of the amendment is on file in the Old Saybrook Town Clerk’s Office, The Acton Public Library and on the Old Saybrook Town Website.

5.  To recommend to town meeting, based upon the recommendation of the Board of Selectmen and Board of Finance, an appropriation of $111,870 from the capital non-recurring account for repairs and restoration of the Kavanagh Park Tennis Courts and the replacement of the fencing around said courts. Further, said funds will be moved to an off budget account that will be entitled “Kavanagh Park Tennis Courts Repair”.
